Dear Roosevelt - For full orchestra and choir, SATB.. A work dedicated to the spirit and tanacity of "colored" secondary schools of the south from the early 20th-Century through the civil rights era. This work uses texts taken from writers that span from the Black Renaissance (New York/Harlem and Chicago) and ends, odd as it may seem, with a choral melody on The Bells of St. Mary. This work also features the banjo! Approximately 14 minutes in length.

With The Lark - For choir (SATB) with piano accompaniment. The text is taken from Paul Laurence Dunbar's poem of the same name that pushes the listener to search for inner-strength when times are hard. This composition is dedicated to the memory of my mother, Thelma Currence Caldwell. She was an English teacher and librarian in the public schools of Clover, South Carolina for over 30 years. She was also a lover of spirituals and literary works from Shakespeare to Langston Hughes.
